About Law Firm Mentor

Law Firm Mentor (LFM) helps small and mid-sized law firms build the systems, people, and market position they need to grow predictably and profitably. Through hands-on advisory engagements, proprietary growth frameworks, and a network of subject-matter specialists, LFM partners directly with managing partners and firm leadership to turn ambition into measurable, sustained growth.

Role Summary

The VP of Marketing leads marketing for Law Firm Mentor itself — brand, demand generation, content, and events — while also serving as a senior client-facing advisor helping law firms build durable marketing engines of their own.

This is a dual mandate: build and protect LFM’s own market position as the leading authority in law firm growth, while transferring real marketing capability into the client firms LFM serves.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own LFM’s marketing strategy and execution across brand, content, demand generation, events, and partnerships.
  • Build and lead the internal marketing team, setting goals, standards, and operating rhythms across functions.
  • Serve as a senior client-facing advisor on marketing strategy, helping client law firms define positioning, build content and demand-generation engines, and improve client acquisition.
  • Translate LFM’s proprietary growth methodology into marketing frameworks and playbooks that client firms can implement and sustain internally.
  • Partner with the Law Firm Growth Executive Advisors to ensure marketing recommendations are properly sequenced within each client’s overall growth roadmap.
  • Own LFM’s brand presence across channels, including digital marketing, content platforms, signature events, and thought-leadership initiatives.
  • Set and track marketing KPIs internally (pipeline contribution, brand awareness, content performance) and support tracking of client-side marketing outcomes.
  • Manage marketing budget, agency, and vendor relationships, ensuring efficient allocation of spend across internal and client-facing priorities.
  • Collaborate with the CRM and Data Systems Manager to ensure marketing data, attribution, and reporting are accurate and actionable.
  • Represent LFM’s marketing point of view in market — at events, in media, and in client-facing strategic conversations.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of progressive marketing leadership experience, including team management and budget ownership.
  • Demonstrated success building demand generation and brand programs that drove measurable business growth.
  • Experience operating in a dual capacity — leading internal marketing while also advising external clients or stakeholders on their own marketing strategy.
  • Strong grasp of digital marketing, content strategy, and modern demand-generation channels.
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with sales/advisory, data, and technology teams.
  • Excellent executive communication and presentation skills.
  • Data-driven decision-making approach, with comfort in marketing analytics and attribution.

Preferred / A Plus

  • Experience marketing to or within professional services, legal, or other relationship-driven industries.
  • Experience building a marketing function inside a high-growth company.
  • Familiarity with marketing automation and CRM platforms used in a B2B or professional services context.

How Success is Measured

  • Internal pipeline and revenue contribution from marketing-driven channels.
  • Brand awareness and share-of-voice within the legal growth/coaching category.
  • Client adoption and outcomes from marketing frameworks installed during advisory engagements.
  • Marketing team performance against goals and operating cadence.
  • Efficient use of marketing budget relative to internal and client-facing outcomes.
